Description
The Kellin Foundation is seeking a part-time Therapeutic Child Care Specialist to support a new drop-in child care space at the Kellin Foundation Hope Hub. This role helps provide a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for young children while their caregivers access services onsite.
The Therapeutic Child Care Specialist will use trauma-informed practices to support children, foster positive interactions, and help create an emotionally and physically safe space for families.
Duties
Responsibilities:
• Provide supportive and responsive care for young children in a drop-in setting
• Foster a welcoming, nurturing, and trauma-informed environment
• Facilitate age-appropriate activities and positive social interactions
• Complete required paperwork and maintain accurate documentation
• Monitor child safety and respond appropriately to behavioral or emotional challenges
• Help identify program supply needs and support day-to-day operations
• Collaborate with staff, community partners, and caregivers as needed
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and program planning activities
• Assist with program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred in early childhood education, social work, counseling, psychology, human services, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Experience working with children and families in educational, therapeutic, childcare, or human service settings
• Understanding of trauma-informed and strengths-based practices preferred
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills
• Ability to remain calm and responsive in challenging situations
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Passion for supporting children and families and commitment to the Kellin Foundation’s mission
