Executive Leadership Academy

The Executive Leadership Academy (ELA) represents a six-month commitment to professional development by leaders at the top level of nonprofit organizations in Guilford County. Participants have access to world-class leadership programming delivered in partnership with Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) faculty and are matched with an executive coach (a member of Triad Coaching Connection) for seven coaching sessions. The cohort of ELA learners also learn and practice peer coaching skills during their time together.

ELA is held each January through June, with full-day sessions cover the following topics: Growing Your Self-Awareness as a Leader (deep work with variety of assessment tools); Leading Change with Change Style Indicator; An Exploration of Privilege; Leading Innovation; Art of Influence: Gaining Commitment & Getting Results; and Authentic Leadership.

Participants operate at the top level of organizational leadership as executive director/CEO/president or at the VP/C-Suite level and have fiscal and management responsibilities within the organization. They commit to full participation and also agree to coach and/or mentor less experienced executive directors at other Guilford County nonprofits.

On the open market, this program would cost a participant $25,000 – $30,000 to participate. The Consortium is pleased to provide this experience for member organizations for $1500 per participant ( limited scholarships are available). If you are interested and meet the criteria, please click here and submit the application by end of day August 31, 2024.

Board Development Academy

The Board Development Academy, held each spring and fall, is designed to meet the needs of new, prospective, and existing nonprofit board members to help maximize their impact in serving our community. Participants in the seven-session program focus on relevant topics related to board service that can be put to immediate use.

The Board Development Academy Faculty includes top-notch, dynamic professionals who donate their time and talent. Topics covered by faculty include: Roles and Responsibilities of a Nonprofit Board; The Art and Science of Board Meetings; Fiduciary Responsibilities and Legal Duties of a Nonprofit Board; The Nonprofit Board and the Strategic Planning Process; Financial Literacy for Nonprofit Boards; Fundraising Basics for Nonprofit Boards; and Mock Board Meeting and Graduation.

Program participants will leave the Board Development Academy with practical knowledge and best practices to strengthen the governance of nonprofit organizations, new connections to local experts in key aspects of nonprofit board service, a network of peers, and resources that can be used today and referred to in the future as you continue to learn and grow as board leaders

The cost for Consortium member organizations is $200 per participant and $300 per participant for non-members. The next Academy will be held in the Fall of 2024. If you are interested, please visit the events page.
