Description
The Kellin Foundation is seeking a part-time Tutor to provide academic support for children and adolescents participating in Kellin Foundation programs and services. This position helps students strengthen academic skills, build confidence, and develop positive learning habits within a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed environment.
Tutoring may include individual support, small-group instruction, homework assistance, and enrichment activities focused primarily on math and reading.
Duties
Responsibilities:
• Provide individual and small-group tutoring sessions
• Assist students with homework, study skills, organization, and academic goal setting
• Adapt tutoring approaches to meet different learning styles and developmental needs
• Foster a positive, encouraging, and emotionally safe learning environment
• Build supportive relationships with students and caregivers
• Maintain attendance records and tutoring notes as required
• Assist with preparation of tutoring materials and educational activities
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and program planning activities
• Support outreach and engagement efforts that encourage participation in educational services
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred in education, psychology, social work, human services, or a related field
• Experience tutoring, mentoring, teaching, or working with children and adolescents preferred
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to engage youth from diverse backgrounds with patience, empathy, and encouragement
• Understanding of trauma-informed practices and social-emotional learning preferred
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Passion for supporting youth and families and commitment to the Kellin Foundation’s mission
