Lydia’s Place serves women and families experiencing homelessness in central North Carolina by providing a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment for temporary housing – often the first step in establishing sustainable independence. We are looking for an enthusiastic relationship centered leader. This leader shall provide visionary possibilities, be innovative in their thinking and have a deep understanding of client needs. The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the shelter which engages staff, volunteers’ partners, and board members. The main duties of the Executive Director are:
Board Relations
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to energize and engage in policy decisions, strategic planning, organizational growth, fundraising, and visibility of the organization.
- Work with the board in its board governance role, ensuring its overall effectiveness.
Finance
- Ensure the annual budget is fully funded and the organization has adequate cash flow, strong internal controls as well as efficient, accurate, and consistent financial operations and practices.
- Ensure compliance with government and private grant funding and other revenue sources.
Operations
- Build a positive work culture that supports a productive, mission focused work environment while motivating and evaluating staff.
- Foster a culture of teamwork and accountability throughout the organization, developing staff members to their highest potential.
Resource Development
- Lead fundraising efforts, in collaboration with the board, in cultivating and soliciting high level donors and partners.
- Responsible for the consistent flow of revenue to the organization supporting programs and activities through diverse and multi-faceted income streams.
- Cultivate positive and sustained relationships with funding partners.
Communications & Outreach
- Articulate Lydias Place vision in an inspiring way to internal and external constituencies.
- Build awareness of Lydias Place to expand its reach, engage volunteers, and leverage financial, programming, and fundraising opportunities.
- Create and maintain strategic alliances and collaborative partnerships with partner organizations, the faith-based community, and other nonprofits.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in social work, psychology, or related field
Experience working with homeless, impoverished, or other marginalized populations.
Experience managing and supervising employees.
Fundraising/Development skills
Preferred Qualifications
Certificate in non-profit management is a plus.
