The Tannenbaum-Sternberger Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a $21 million endowment, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents of Guilford County, North Carolina. The Foundation provides grants to support initiatives in human services, arts, economic development, housing, and education. The Foundation seeks a visionary and strategic leader to serve as Executive Director, guiding the Foundation’s mission to create lasting impact.
Duties
Position Summary
The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of the Tannenbaum-Sternberger Foundation, responsible for leading the organization’s strategic, operational, and programmatic activities. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will oversee grantmaking, financial management, community engagement, and organizational development to advance the Foundation’s mission. This role requires a dynamic leader with a passion for philanthropy, strong communication skills, and deep ties to or knowledge of Guilford County, with the expectation of regular engagement with local community partners.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in nonprofit management, public administration, business, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of leadership experience in nonprofit management, philanthropy, or community development, with a proven track record of strategic planning and grantmaking.
- Strong understanding of Guilford County’s community needs, cultural landscape, and economic challenges.
- Exceptional financial management skills, with experience overseeing endowments or significant budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and collaborate with community organizations, and government.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in public speaking and advocacy.
- Knowledge of 501(c)(3) regulations and nonprofit governance best practices.
- Passion for the Foundation’s focus areas: human services, arts, economic development, housing, and education.
