Description
Glenwood Together is seeking to add a dynamic and creative individual to our core staff team. The Outreach Specialist will fill a key role, ensuring clear communication and engagement with our community. We are open to junior and senior candidates, however only one position is currently open. Pay will be commensurate with experience and level of leadership brought to the position, based on the stated range.
Status: Part Time, 20 hours per week
Schedule: Tuesday 11am-5pm, Wednesday 11am-5pm, Thursday 11am-7pm; Occasional other dates as needed
Pay Rate: Hourly, $15-20 per hour, based on experience
Duties
Community Outreach
The Outreach Specialist will ensure all upcoming events are communicated clearly to the community. This will be accomplished by:
- Designing flyers in Canva for upcoming events
- Distributing flyers through established communication channels and identifying new opportunities to spread the word
- Working with GT staff to cultivate new & existing community partner relationships
- Leading GT canvassing efforts in Glenwood
- Managing bimonthly program emails
- Assisting with social media planning
Volunteer Management
The Outreach Specialist will act as the lead for volunteer opportunities at Glenwood Together, ensuring all volunteers have a positive experience. This will be accomplished through:
- Managing volunteer onboarding process, including screening, retention, and training.
- Coordinating volunteer care efforts.
- Assisting GT staff in identifying new volunteer opportunities.
- Staffing occasional volunteer workdays, as assigned.
Membership Coordination
The Outreach Specialist will assist with the launch and maintenance of a membership program for Glenwood Together, with a goal of increasing communication and engagement with current and new visitors to the center. This will be accomplished through:
- Creation & distribution of marketing materials associated with membership.
- Ensuring clean and thorough data management re: engagement.
- Leading efforts to deepen engagement with visitors to GT.
Overall Presence
All Glenwood Together employees serve as community center hosts throughout the week, alongside their position-based duties. On slow days, we work while we host; on busy days we rotate to ensure everyone has time to get work done. Our team thrives with high levels of communication, support, and flexibility. The Outreach Specialist will contribute to this team dynamic through:
- Serving as lead host for a portion of our open hours each week.
- Greeting every guest with kindness and respect, offering full attention to guests.
- Helping keep the space tidy & stocked, and addressing issues as they arise.
- Working to address guest needs, whether directly, through referrals, and/or collaborating with other GT staff and volunteers..
- Assisting with Family Night activities under the guidance of the Director of Youth & Family Programs.
Other Responsibilities
- Special projects on a seasonal basis.
- All other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications
- Experience with and enthusiasm for working with children, families, and adults from all walks of life.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Google Worksuite, Canva, MS Office, and common social media platforms.
- Spanish language fluency is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, strong project management skills, ability to thrive independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
