Description

PURPOSE: The primary role of the IAC Manager is to oversee and manage FaithAction’s Immigrant Assistance Center staff and services including: basic needs services (food, housing, healthcare), ESL and computer classes, cultivate a safe space for immigrants, domestic violence victims and the LGBTQ community.

ACCOUNTABILITY: The IAC Manager is supervised by and accountable to the Associate Director.

RELATIONSHIPS: The IAC Manager will provide direct supervision to 3 full-time IAC Case Managers, supervise interns, and work closely with the Guilford Congregational Nurse and the licensed therapist; as well as support all FaithAction projects and events, as needed. The position requires constant community outreach and communication with important community partners including: social service agencies, nonprofits, faith communities, law enforcement, schools, as well as FaithAction’s volunteer network. The IAC Manager will attend regular service provider meetings with the goal to strengthen and cultivate new partnerships.

Duties

RESPONSIBILITIES: The IAC Manager will:

Leadership:

  • Train, instruct and supervise case managers, ensuring they provide professional, confidential, and efficient case management, workshop instructions, and class facilitation
  • Continually evaluate the operation of the team/function to ensure ongoing operations for the department
  • Set effective goals, objectives, and outcomes for the IAC
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director in the evaluation, improvement of collection and input of data
  • Conduct bi-weekly supervision of team members, record supervision notes, review Salesforce notes, and provide directives to staff
  • Promote and include consistently the services of the Guilford Congregational Nurse and licensed therapist
  • Communicate and collect data from case managers, nurse, and therapist in a timely manner
  • Responsible for generating monthly department reports in a timely manner and submitting them to the AD
  • Continually evaluate the operation of team/function to ensure ongoing effectiveness and impact of all services provided to families.
  • Provide support to the Director of Development with grants related to the IAC department or services rendered
  • Ensures grant benchmarks are met and reporting for grants are accurate and completed in a timely manner
  • Supervise and work alongside interns to ensure IAC database and resources are up-to-date
  • Provides professional development training and opportunities to continue to enhance case managers’ knowledge, competence, and ability to serve clients.
  • Complete 90 day and yearly IAC Case Manager evaluations

Case Management & Services:

  • Provide basic needs services and case management to FaithAction’s diverse clientele, especially those with emergency needs, as needed
  • Provides interventions during crisis situations related to case management
  • Contributes to the development of the IAC Curriculum/Manual of procedures and resources
  • Responsible for growing, managing and making requests to the listserv; as well as other community financial sources, to meet demands for financial assistance.
  • Conduct routinely chart reviews to ensure documentation of interactions with clients is professional, structured, and with sufficient detail to reduce liabilities.
  • Ensure confidentiality of interactions and transactions between client, staff, and community resources.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan to expand overtime FaithAction’s services and continue to diversify the families we serve
  • Ensure clients receive consistent follow-up and are connected to resources by collaborating with community partners and documenting referral outcomes
  • Oversees and co-facilitates IAC annual Back-to-School and Toy Drive with case managers
  • Manages client surveys and completes data entry of feedback from clients for annual impact reports
  • Oversees the food pantry and ensures that it is consistently well-stocked at all times and appliances are maintained. Direct the FaithAction team when community donation requests have to be made or items need to be purchased
  • Review case manager case notes and collect monthly reports.

Outreach and Engagement:

  • Consistently is networking and establishing partnerships in the community
  • Meet with partner groups and agencies to strengthen collaborative relationships and increase opportunities for our clients
  • Routinely invites service providers to visit FaithAction’s office, meet the staff and explore opportunities of collaboration
  • Attend service provider meetings (i.e. GCCN, FJC, GCAN, NCWorks, community roundtables and more) to strengthen and cultivate new partnerships
  • Assist case managers in planning, hosting and facilitating monthly community workshops at FaithAction, led by the IAC
  • Ensures the IAC is presenting or tabling at community events, schools, or houses of worship every month about FaithAction’s services and events
  • Support monthly FaithAction ID Drives, annual fundraising event, Unity Walk and Multicultural Thanksgiving event.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Attend internal and external meetings as requested or required.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external collaborating partners, congregations, donors, and staff.
  • Regular attendance and accountability, with regard to work meetings and commitments.
  • Assist in fundraising efforts and help raise funds for the organization - as needed.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: A strong candidate will have a bachelor or advanced degree in social work with a focus on immigration, human rights, conflict resolution, multicultural education, or interfaith cooperation. The position requires significant experience in providing social services, especially to newcomer communities, as well as excellent supervision and team building skills. The candidate would need to be bilingual in Spanish and English; additional languages a plus. We are looking for someone who is deeply passionate about the work of FaithAction, and who demonstrates empathy, cultural competency, and the ability to build trust with diverse cultural and religious communities, and partner organizations. This position requires excellent skills working with Google features and MS Office skills (including Word, Publisher, Access, Excel, etc.) and knowledge of database management (including Salesforce and social media).

Candidates must also demonstrate a strong ethic of staff teamwork and community empowerment and collaboration. The position will require a car to travel throughout North Carolina as needed and may include occasional trips outside of the state. Weekends and evening hours will be required on occasions for scheduled community events in advance.

Experience:

  • providing social services: 2 years (Preferred)
  • working with immigrants and refugees: 3 years (Required)
  • interfaith work: 1 year (Preferred)
