Description

Peacehaven is seeking an experienced development professional to join our entrepreneurial team. In this role, you will manage all fundraising activities while enhancing organizational systems and processes that ensure a culture of philanthropy lasts for years to come.

Located on a 90-acre farm just south of I-40 between Greensboro, NC, and Burlington, NC, Peacehaven is focused on integrated housing, farming, and programming where people of all abilities learn from and grow with other. People with an intellectual and/or developmental disability and their families experience isolation in a very real and ongoing way, and Peacehaven has become a hub of community engagement, welcoming nearly a thousand visitors and volunteers from all walks of life each year. Historically, we have operated on approximately 10% of our land, but we are in a significant phase of growth. Our seven year strategic plan is focused on building a state-of-the-art 12,000-square-foot community center, a wealth of diverse programming that will engage the entire region, and residences for up to 50 additional permanent residents.

Duties

  • Initiate and oversee Peacehaven’s annual development plan in partnership with the CEO, board, and staff
  • Plan, organize, and implement the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donor constituent groups, including individuals, corporations, and foundations, collaborating with staff and board for execution
  • Coordinate all activities of the board, volunteers, staff and others as they relate to annual fundraising and major gift solicitations
  • Deepen relationships with existing major and/or long-standing donors through face to face contact; ensure these donors receive targeted, personalized communication around engagement opportunities, including products, programs, and events
  • Work with staff and volunteers to research and compile profile information on individuals, corporations, foundations and other prospects for annual fundraising efforts and the capital campaign
  • Serve as point person for the capital campaign, including:
  • Work with CEO and consultants on strategy, lists, research, and timeframes for the campaign
  • Work with development support staff, consultants, and volunteers to prepare all capital campaign materials and correspondences: files; lists; meeting notifications, agendas, minutes, and other follow-up materials promised at meetings; prospect and donor research, records, acknowledgements and reports
  • Coordinate orientation of new board members and capital campaign volunteers as needed to update on capital campaign planning and implementation
  • Maintain and update a capital campaign calendar of scheduled activities, and send weekly reports to key individuals and consultants
  • Organize and maintain thorough and accurate computer and hard copy filing systems for all Peacehaven annual fundraising and capital campaign activities
  • Prepare and produce all capital campaign materials for meetings, proposals, and reports
  • Record and transcribe notes of all significant capital campaign-related communications, including meetings and calls with consultants, volunteers, and prospects
  • Help CEO and key volunteers identify couples and individuals to engage in major gift and estate planning conversations and oversee proposal development 
  • Collaborate with Director of Marketing and Communications on strategy and implementation of annual Seeds of Hope campaign
  • Share stories of impact to motivate volunteers, board members, donors, and partners in ways that inspire support for Peacehaven
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and accountability throughout the organization, helping staff develop to their highest potential
  • Serve as a member of the leadership team, helping to ensure strong staff relations and fulfillment of Peacehaven’s mission and strategic vision
  • Represent the mission, vision, and values of the organization internally and externally

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • 5+ years leading a comprehensive resource development program
  • Individual must be organized and detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments
  • Experience working within a CRM database and using data to drive fundraising efforts
  • Ability to connect with individuals from all walks of life, including persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
