StepUp Greensboro is seeking an energetic, goal-oriented fundraiser to serve as its Director of Development.  StepUp Greensboro is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization providing free job readiness training, mentoring, and personal support services to help individuals find and maintain employment and build stable lives.

Position Overview:

The Director of Development will help advance the mission of SUG by developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan that will include major gifts, foundation and corporate giving, individual giving and special events.  The Director will establish and maintain working relationships with SUG Board of Directors, donors, the SUG staff, volunteers, and all other constituents. The Director of Development reports to the Executive Director and supervises a part-time grant-writer and a part-time marketing coordinator.

Duties

Responsibilities:

  • Establish an active, impactful, visible presence in the Greensboro community to build new donor relationships
  • Meet revenue (budget) requirements of SUG by working with the Treasurer to set annual budgets and monetary goals
  • Identify and solicit annual donor constituent groups: board of directors, faith communities, corporations, foundations, and individuals. Build new donor relationships while maintaining on-going relationships
  • Work with the Development Committee to meet all yearly fundraising goals
  • Be willing to go out into the community to build new donor relationships. Submit weekly reports of new contacts to Executive Director and the Development Committee Chair
  • Attend Board meetings
  • Work with the Impact Luncheon committee to plan the annual fundraiser
  • Keep funding tables up-to-date and work with the grant writer to submit timely grant information

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or at least 4 years of demonstrated fundraising success
  • Budget management experience, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be a self-starter and to be able to set priorities, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Apple computers, Microsoft software, and Salesforce
