Responsible for the day-to-day operations of a Congregate Nutrition Site to ensure the needs of the older adults are being met in accordance with Title III guidelines. Responsible for the supervision of all functions related to food, program activities, and transportation when applicable.

Site Manager Hours: Part Time; 8:30am-12:30pm, Monday- Friday
• Monthly Site Manager meetings with the Nutrition Program Director on the last, or next to last
Friday of the month, from 2:00-3:00pm.
• Yearly CPR training, held in May; class duration is typically 5 hours, held from 12:30-5:30pm.


Site Manager Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Insure that Federal and State guidelines are followed.

To encourage, collect, and submit collections of Program Income to the Finance Office weekly. Insure that the form is correctly completed and that all funds are counted daily by a volunteer and the site manager in each other’s presence.

Submit required weekly and monthly reports accurately and in a timely manner.

Oversee the proper use and care of fire extinguishers, follow health regulations governing sanitation and food service; provide the Nutrition Programs Director with health and fire inspection reports immediately upon completion.

Strive to recruit program participants and increase enrollment at the meal site.

Attend mandatory monthly Site Manager meetings scheduled by the Nutrition Program Director. Attend other meetings as required.

Attend and successfully complete annual adult CPR training.

Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and Senior Aides who can assist with meal service and act as a substitute in the site manager’s absence.

Insure that all required documents are posted at the site. (Title III menus, monthly calendars of events, Title III sign-in sheets, guest meal cost, emergency phone numbers, fire evacuation plan, and cost sharing information)

Insure that volunteers follow correct procedures for food handling, (hand washing, hairnets, plastic gloves, food portions, no stretching of meals, food temperatures and serving utensils).

Responsible for checking food on arrival to be sure it matches the menu and responsible for checking food temperatures in compliance with Federal regulations.

Maintain a positive relationship with Food Vendor personnel for purposes of trouble shooting.

Responsible for notifying the Nutrition Programs Director when there are changes in transportation needs and/or transportation difficulties. When necessary, the Site Manager will utilize an agency 15 passenger van to provide transportation to escort participants to planned off-site trips and activities.

Insure that the Nutrition Programs Director is notified of all problems and concerns at the meal site including emergencies, meal discrepancies and client incidences.

Responsible for assessing programming needs and interests, and to plan, implement and evaluate program activities.

Check your box regularly, and distribute flyers to participants in a timely manner.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with staff, service providers and senior adults.
Ability to lift pans of food and other kitchen supplies.
Ability to organize and supervise volunteers to accomplish tasks easily and efficiently.
Ability to adapt oneself and participants at site to changing conditions, to solve problems with a positive attitude.
Knowledge of community resources and of food service and sanitation procedures.

Education and Experience:

High School Education
Experience with older adults
Experience with food service preferred.
