Description
This position works with CHS staff, volunteers, donors, and partners to support community awareness of CHS programs through marketing activities and coordination of volunteers.
Duties
Communications/Marketing Responsibilities:
- Review, update, and maintain the CHS website utilizing WordPress
- Review, update, and maintain CHS social media accounts to include Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
- Capture and create social media posts weekly that capture homeowner and volunteer experiences through photography, videos, and written testimonies.
- Write, format and distribute CHS’s bi-monthly e-newsletter via Mailchimp
- Collaborate with the Development Director to write, format and distribute CHS’s IMPACT report during the 1st quarter of each year
- Write and format written communications used with donors, volunteers, partners, etc. to include acknowledgement letter (updated 1x per year) and quarterly printed newsletters
- Review and edit all program materials, brochures, and graphics for community outreach purposes
- Create communication and marketing materials for all signature events (Operation Inasmuch, Paint the Town, Ramp-A-Thon and Ambassadors Event)
- Write and distribute press releases for signature events and any other significant CHS milestones or events
- Work with videographer and CHS Development Director to coordinate filming of videos for the Ambassadors Event, website, etc.
- Review and make any needed edits to homeowner satisfaction and impact survey wording
Volunteer Coordination:
- Coordinate the logistics of our signature events for volunteers – Operation Inasmuch, Ramp-A-Thon, Paint the Town, and University of Virginia week
- Schedule volunteer groups to work on home repairs and manage the volunteer calendar
- Serve as primary contact for all volunteer groups sharing volunteer guidelines, construction safety policy, and the CHS volunteer waiver with all volunteer leaders
- Take photos at volunteer projects and Signature Events to post on social media and use in marketing materials
- Create thank you emails with photo attachments to email to volunteer group leader and all volunteers after a project is completed
- Send out weekly MailChimp email to the CHS Weekday Crew of volunteers
- If volunteers inquire about office work, connect them with CHS Program Specialist to see what opportunities are available for administrative tasks
- Record and track volunteer contact information and hours in Neon database utilizing volunteer waivers
- In conjunction with Development Director, plan and execute a volunteer appreciation event annually
- Be available to serve as a CHS representative at community events that involve volunteer recruitment.
Qualifications
Education:
- A high school diploma or GED required.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience:
- Networking within local community
- Coordinating volunteer groups
- Communicating with various stakeholders
- Designing marketing pieces
Skills:
- Excellent organizational skills to handle multiple priorities throughout the day.
- Interpersonal skills with an ability to work with homeowners, volunteers, donors, and staff.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge and experience working with WordPress and Graphic Design platform of choice
