Position Summary:
The Assistant Retail Operations Manager (AROM) works in tandem with the Senior Retail Operations Manager and is accountable for the store's daily operations, specifically managing the warehouse. The AROM drives maximum sales and profitability, develops processes to achieve organizational revenue goals, optimizes inventory processing and maintenance, oversees the store’s aesthetic, provides a culture of accountability, inclusiveness, and teamwork, improves efficiencies through procedure and policy management, ensures a safe workplace, and works closely with the Executive Director to further RG’s mission and impact as a nonprofit organization.
As part of the senior leadership team, this position supports the warehouse team in achieving a high level of processing efficiency. The AROM completes tasks and develops policies related to inventory processing to ensure a quick turnaround from donation to sales floor. The AROM supervises the Visual Merchandise Associate to present creative and visually appealing displays and keep RG’s brand and aesthetic well represented. This position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively delegate duties to team members, while building a positive work experience ensuring smooth and efficient operations
Duties
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise the warehouse team in developing efficient processes for facilitating donated inventory
- Confer with the Executive Director on warehouse procedures and improvements
- Oversee removal of damaged or unsellable items, keeping the sales floor tidy and arranged for an optimal and safe customer experience
- Responsible for warehouse safety measures above all else, including maintaining clear access to emergency exits and use of equipment
- Oversee warehouse process for collecting and contacting donation partner agencies (HUBS)
- Work in tandem with the Senior Retail Operations Manager to assign work activities for warehouse and sales team members
- Work with the Executive Director in adapting sales strategies to maintain goals, prepare staff and store for special sales and events
Work in partnership with the senior leadership team to build a culture of care, motivation, and accountability among team members
- Manage all escalated customer service issues with professionalism
- Lead with effective communication through the Slack Staff app
- Attend weekly Manager’s Meetings and biweekly warehouse staff meetings, keeping lines of communication open and participatory
- Assist the Executive Director in developing in-store talent, providing feedback and coaching to all employees to maintain a fun and engaging work environment
- Ensure execution and adherence to all company policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming retail environment
- Assist Senior Retail Operations Manager in designing floor displays and other merchandising and design aesthetics, sorting by season, etc.
- Cover warehouse if needed for lunch breaks
- Process donations bins and pricing inventory, keeping items flowing efficiently from warehouse to sales floor

Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3-5 years of experience in a retail sales environment, minimum of 2 years in a leadership/supervisory role
- Possess strong interpersonal skills
- Work experience in a non-profit setting is preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Relevant history of high retail sales performance
- Proficient computer skills and typical retail technology
- Attention to detail while being flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in business acumen to effectively make business decisions
Experience/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Supervise store/warehouse operations and ensure all areas are run efficiently to create a profitable and productive business
- Respond to customer questions, inquiries, and concerns to resolve all issues promptly
- Communicate with the Executive Director on any employee performance issues to ensure they are handled in accordance with company policy
- Implement merchandise strategies while also providing a clean, consistent, and inviting store environment that inspires customers to return
- Maintain an effective and open line of communication with the Executive Director, store and warehouse staff, and senior leadership team.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to frequently stand and move around the work areas. Duties require sitting, bending, reaching, and stooping. Manual dexterity is needed for keyboarding, pricing, cleaning, and sorting
- Must be able to occasionally lift heavy objects of at least 25 lbs. Frequent moving and carrying of objects around the work area is needed
- Normal or corrected hearing and vision are required, along with speaking abilities
- Subjected to moderate noise in typical work environments (computers, printers, client traffic) is characteristic of this job.
- Occasionally exposed to varying temperatures in work areas and outside weather conditions.
- Work schedule does include daytime weekend hours.
