Financial Roundtable – Navigating the Financial Statement Audit

Do you sometimes wonder if your nonprofit really needs an audit? …Is there an audit alternative that might fit your organization better? …And what do you need to do to prepare for your audit? This roundtable discussion will chart a course through the sometimes-choppy, often-confusing waters of the nonprofit audit.

Topics include:

  • Audit myth-busters
  • Differences between an audit and a review
  • Resources for finding quality nonprofit auditors
  • Involving the nonprofit Board
  • What to do after the auditor goes home

We will also skim the surface of a few technical waves, such as: critical internal controls for every nonprofit, the real meaning of “modified audit opinion,” and how “materiality” applies to your organization’s audit.

Please bring your questions for our presenter, Linda Bridges. Linda is a Greensboro CPA in public practice, specializing in services to nonprofits. She entered the audit field in 2008 after serving nine years as the finance director for a nonprofit organization in the Triad. Linda graduated from UNC-Charlotte with a B.S. in Business Administration and earned her Certificate in Accounting from Guilford College.
