June 6 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm | Free - $10.00
CEO Evaluation and Succession
The cost of unexpected turnover at the top can be high, not only in productivity but in lost fundraising and lost impact. * The odds of your Executive being hit by a bus are pretty slim. But odds are 100% that at some time in the future you will need to hire a new Executive. Retirement, better pay, new opportunity or job dissatisfaction are all more likely reasons for your Executive to move on. There is also the possibility that the Board becomes dissatisfied with the Executive, hence the reason for on-going performance evaluation. Twenty percent of those surveyed by BoardSource admit they do not conduct formal, written evaluations of the chief executive officer.* How does your nonprofit evaluate the Executive? What kind of succession planning do you do and who does it?
